What’s hot?

  • The 184PS 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, which with 280lb ft, is torquier than the 2.0-litre TFSI petrol and the same as the current fastest TT – the TTS. More impressive, is that the Roadster is the latest Audi model to benefit from the ‘Ultra’ efficiency tweaks. So despite the 147mph top speed, this Audi is capable of an amazing 65.7mpg and all of this with just 114g/km emissions.
  • This Audi TT Roadster Ultra diesel feels at odds with its ‘Ultra’ tag on the road, it’s as sporty and exciting as you’d expect a TT Roadster to be. Plus, the diesel seemed more flexible in the mid-range too and I had to use the six-speed manual gearbox less.
  • Having now driven hard and soft-top versions of the latest TT, there’s no shortfall in this Audi’s dynamics even with the roof lopped off. So the extra strengthening of the aluminium and steel chassis has worked. The result is sharp, well-weighted steering, virtually no body roll and impressive levels of grip.
  • Okay, the styling might be evolutionary, but there is lots to like about the Audi TT Roadster Ultra on the outside, whether you’re an Audi fan or not – especially in sleek soft-top Roadster form. Our particular favourite features have to be the sharp front and rear light designs.
  • If you like the exterior, you’re going to love the interior of the latest TT Roadster. There’s the usual high level of quality and detail that you expect of the four-rings. However, the adoption of Audi’s virtual cockpit makes for an even more stylish, button-free design, that’s intuitive and easy to live with.
  • The 114g/km CO2 emissions mean the Audi TT Roadster 2.0-litre TDI Ultra Sport falls into the competitive 18% company car tax band for 2014/15.
