Animal detection: a world first in safety

  • City Safety system addition large animal detection is a feature capable of detecting large animals such as deer, horses or moose/elk, night or day.
  • The technology gives intuitive warning and brake support to help avoid or control collisions with large animals

VOLVO has chosen the North American Auto Show in Detroit to launch the classy new Volvo S90 premium saloon – now with animal detection among the safety features.

It’s the second chapter in the complete renewal of Volvo’s product range, which began in 2015 with the new XC90 SUV.

The new S90 has been widely praised for its classy exterior styling and luxurious interior, since its world reveal in December.

Exterior styling highlights of the Volvo saloon include the concave version of the Volvo family grille – a homage to the original Saint car the P1800 – and the distinctive T-Shaped Thor’s Hammer headlights.

The Inside of this new Volvo saloon feels equally special, with dashboard design and instrument cues taken from last year’s success with the all-new XC90 SUV. On top of this, Volvo has introduced new air blades that stand vertically on each side of the Sensus user interface.

As you’d expect for a Volvo, the S90 debuts plenty of safety and new tech. These include a world-first addition to City Safety – large animal detection, a feature capable of detecting large animals such as deer, horses or moose/elk, night or day. The technology gives intuitive warning and brake support to help avoid or control collisions with large animals.

There’s a real buzz around autonomous driving and the new S90 is there with IntelliSafe Assist as standard. IntelliSafe Assist includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Distance Alert, and the advanced semi-autonomous drive feature, Pilot Assist.
