First company car review of the all new Skoda Octavia

It’s got loads of room, the interior has a much more up-market feel than the old model, and there are some eye-catching numbers on emissions and mpg that won’t please the taxman.

Skoda Octavia
Bags of room, much more of a ‘premium’ feel, and some very business car friendly costs sum up our take on the pre-production test car

Business Car Manager road test verdict

We’ll be back with a full test of the production-ready Octavia in late January but for now, this Skoda Octavia prototype shows huge amounts of promise.

The headline figures all relate to the amount of space on offer but if you look beyond that you’ll find a car that feels much more luxurious – even premium – compared with the old car.

More about the new Skoda Octavia

CO2 emissions are low – company car tax on this diesel Octavia will be around the 17% mark for 2013/14 – while the GreenLine version will cut this to just 13%. Added to which, running costs for small businesses will be kept well in check with those impressive fuel economy figures.

The ride quality may be an issue, we’ll have to wait to drive the production car, but otherwise the Octavia is shaping up to be another very impressive company car from Skoda.

Editor’s note: Final specifications and CO2 emissions are to be confirmed by Skoda when the pricing for new Octavia is announced in January 2013.
