‘Fleet Alliance Loves’ is a set of fundamental principles that the company adheres to as part of a policy to support charities and worthwhile causes. Over six years, employees have staff have raised over £200,000 for many of these with Maggie’s Cancer Centres often being at the heart of the activities.
For 2015, Fleet Alliance has organised an extreme three day challenge event, dubbed Maggie’s X3, which is due to start on 11th September.
Commercial Director, David Blackmore will kayak, cycle and run 168 miles from Maggie’s Centre in Inverness to Maggie’s Centre in Glasgow in only 3 days. This is the equivalent of three back-to-back marathons, with some truly punishing elevation changes.
Maggie’s X3 is a point-to-point journey across the Scottish Highlands, encompassing the Great Glen Way and the West Highland Way.
The Route
Friday 11th September
- David starts his challenge in Maggie’s Centre Inverness to Great Glen Way with a 22 mile run to Drumnadrochit
- From Drumnadrochit, David will kayak 11 miles to Invermoriston
- David will complete the first day of the challenge with a 41 mile cycle to Fort William.
Saturday 12th September - David will continue the challenge with a 55 mile run along the West Highland Way from Fort William to Inverarnan
Sunday 13th September - David will Kayak 12 miles kayak Loch Lomond from Ardlui to Rowardennan
- David will finally complete the challenge with a 27 mile cycle to Maggie’s Gartnavel Centre in Glasgow
