“So far we have recorded a 99% success rate with the cleaning and the one per cent that did have to be cleaned twice was down to a vehicle issue, rather than the cleaning process. Ultimately this has saved us money when compared to the costs of sourcing new DPF parts.”
Fleet Hire’s experience of DPF cleaning is being shared at a time when the commercial vehicle sector is being urged to consider its impact on the environment. The introduction of Euro-6 to heavy commercial vehicles last year has already led to significant improvements in nitrogen oxides, particulates and hydrocarbons from vans and trucks, and DPF units have long been reducing carbon particles in diesel exhausts since becoming required in all diesel vehicles in 2009.
Cameron Bryce, director of DPF Clean Team added:
“It’s no secret that DPF cleaning has a very high success rate and can be completed a lot more quickly than the time it takes to source and fit a new DPF unit. This not only makes a difference when compared with the cost of a new DPF, but also reduces the risk of unscheduled vehicle downtime, keeping commercial vehicles on the road.”
