THE FACE of work could change radically over the next 10 years – to benefit the self-employed freelancer and consultant.
According to a presentation by futurist Dr James Bellini, to be presented in a webcast to mark National Freelancers Day, we could see one of the biggest societal shifts since the industrial revolution.
Dr Bellini believes the emergence of a networked society will see fundamental changes to the way people work.
Businesses with foresight will have unprecedented opportunities to take advantage of this new society, reckons Dr Bellini, with the advantage to become nimbler, greener and more innovative. The freelance model will feature prominently in this new society.
Dr Bellini’s presentation will be part of National Freelancers Day on Monday 23rd November. Organised by PCG (the Professional Contractors Group) – the representative body for freelancers, contractors and consultants in the UK – PCG will be hosting a special webcast entitled ‘Freelancing: The Future of Work’. Experts will look ahead to 2020, examining how the concept of freelancing is likely to develop within the changing business world.
As well as Dr Bellini, presenters of the online event include chairman of Skype Michael van Swaaij and Jon Andrews a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
