The power of the electric motor is more than doubled compared with that of the previous hybrid Porsche Cayenne, from 47 PS to 95 PS.
Paired together, the S E-Hybrid’s three-litre V6 supercharged engine (333 PS) and the electric motor produce a combined system power of 416 PS and a total system torque of 590 Nm.
Combined fuel consumption is 83 mpg (79 g/km CO2). Acceleration to 62 mph comes up in 5.9 seconds and the top speed is 151 mph. The top speed in all-electric driving is 77 mph.
Other engines include a new 420 PS 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo for the Cayenne S in place of the previous V8, the 4.8-litre V8 in the Cayenne Turbo, the three-litre V6 in the Cayenne diesel, and the 4.2-litre V8 in the Cayenne S diesel.
Prices for the updated Porsche Cayenne start at £49,902 for the Cayenne diesel, rising to £93,763 for the Cayenne Turbo.
The new Cayenne S E-Hybrid comes in at £61,474, exactly the same price as the Cayenne S diesel, which should help its chances.
Revised Porsche Cayenne models are already available to order and the first cars will arrive in the UK in October.
