Mr Cullis said that there would be the choice of two diesel engines and the 1.6 petrol engine; all would be available with fuel-saving ISG stop-start. A decision was still pending on whether the 2.0-litre petrol engine would be made available.
This Mondeo class estate car has better CO2 emissions than a three-door low emission Vauxhall Corsa 1.3CDTI SXi 95PS ecoFLEX supermini. That’s the measure of Hyundai’s achievement
“We want the Hyundai i40 to have competitive contract hire rates, so we are providing the best specifications to ensure residual values are as high as possible,” Mr Cullis said.
“We would expect our residual values to be above the Ford Mondeo, with the Mazda6 as our benchmark,” added Mr Cullis.
Good residual values are critical to underpinning a competitive monthly contract hire rate. The more powerful Mazda6 2.2D TS 163ps Estate is currently available from Mazda Contract Hire for £254 a month over 35 months/30,000 miles following a £1524 initial payment.
The new Hyundai i40 estate goes on sale in June; the saloon will follow in the autumn.
The Hyundai i40 will be backed by Hyundai’s comprehensive Five Year Triple Care assurance package (five-year unlimited warranty, five years of roadside assistance and five years of vehicle health checks).
