Kia tell us that they’ve sold just “a few hundred” cee’d GTs since this model came on sale earlier this year, and have almost gone out of their way not to aggravate head to head battle with the competition.
This is wise because in purely sporting terms, it just isn’t as good. However, it remains an attractive proposition if you love the looks of the c’eed GT, and the hard headed warranty that distinguishes Kia from other car makers.
On the matter of running costs, and everyday finesse and companionability, we reckon this is a very fine car. But for all that it is hard to avoid comparison with the diesel c’eed and other, indirect candidates such as the similarly priced VW Golf 2.0 TDI 150 SE at £22,705, which will feel as fast or faster in everyday driving and thrashes the c’eed on emissions and running costs – the Golf GTI costs £5-7k more so it’s not a direct competitor.
In short, if you love the c’eed already then look carefully at the Kia c’eed GT. If you want a fast car that handles brilliantly then there are many alternatives.
