“I think there are a few user choosers that are petrol heads at heart, who know where the essence of the Mustang is and go for the V8 over the Ecoboost.
“If you want a Mustang, you want a Mustang, the Ecoboost will be relatively attractive to fleet user choosers, because of the lower CO2, but there will be a few out there that will take the extra cost of having the 5.0-litre.”
“I think there’s an element that enthusiasts knew the Mustang was coming and were ready to get it, but as I think more people become aware of it and bear in mind we haven’t advertised it yet – they will be more interested in taking it. We will rigorously align production with supply, so I don’t ever envisage the Mustang suffering from oversupply. My aim is to have precisely one less than we have demand for. Mustang will always be a demand for, as opposed to, a supply vehicle.”
“If somebody wants a Mustang, then they’re are prepared to accept some CO2 and fuel economy trade off versus another vehicle. If you want a Mustang, then you can see the emotional pull of the V8, because that’s the heart and soul of the car.”
