AFTER three years on sale, Peugeot has given the 508 a facelift – although only the keenest of observers will probably notice.

Face-lift changes for the front of the 5008 include a grille that is more “vertical” and a bonnet that is more “horizontal”, with all of the front lights now using LED technology.

Under the skin, though, there are plenty more worthwhile improvements.

There’s a new, Euro 6 compliant 1.6-litre petrol engine, the THP 165 Stop & Start, available with a six-speed manual gearbox or Peugeot’s new EAT6 six-speed automatic.

This replaces the Euro 5 1.6-litre THP 156, bringing CO2 emissions down from 144g/km to 131g/km for manual gearbox models.

For diesel fans, Peugeot has introduced BlueHDi technology for tax-friendly low C02 emissions.

The 2.0-litre BlueHDi 150 6-speed manual emits just 105g/km, which Peugeot says is the best performance in this segment for a car with this level of engine power.

The more powerful 2.0-litre BlueHDi 180 EAT6 Saloon version has been type approved with CO2 emissions of just 111g/km.
