The Volvo V70 estate car is now available with Volvo’s R-Design sports package to give some real pep to practicality.

The Volvo V70 R-Design features a number of specially developed exterior and interior design details, such as LED turning indicators integrated into door mirrors with silk metal covers and a unique, diamond cut 18-inch alloy ‘Ixion’ wheels, leather upholstery trimmed in off black, leather around the gear selector, and black floor-mats with contrasting stitching.

More to point, the V70 R-Design needn’t cost you a packet in company car tax, either. Although V70 R-Design is available with all engines, you can also choose the newly launched 1.6-litre DRIVe diesel with CO2 emissions of just 119g/km and fuel economy of 62.8mpg.

For the 2011/12 tax year, the Volvo V70 1.6D DRIVe 115HP R-Design Start/Stop model has a benefit in kind company car tax band of 13%, rising to 17% the following year. The benefit in kind value is £3,658 (2011/12) and £4,784 (2012/13) – hardly punishing for a sports-look premium estate. The Volvo
