Range Rover Sport 3.0 SD6 HSE Dynamic review

What’s not?

  • Although it has start/stop, with 185g/km CO2 and a 35% tax charge, running this Range Rover Sport on the business is not going to be cheap.
  • Our car was a Dynamic model and was sporty like the name suggests, however we drove a non-Dynamic model and the drive was disappointingly normal.
  • Only likely to bother the geeky, but the column stalks are shared with the smaller Evoque and the Jaguar F-Type sportscar. They work well enough, but it feels like Land Rover has done a bit of cost cutting
  • The standard touch-screen sat-nav feels old and is shared with other Jaguar and Land Rover models. Although updated with new features, it is still too slow and complicated to operate.
  • Some of the interior finishes aren’t up to the £60,000+list price.

The Verdict for the Range Rover Sport 3.0 SD6 HSE Dynamic

The latest Range Rover Sport has been on sale for a while now and is deservedly popular, despite the high price and running costs.

Yes, it’s not as new as it was and there’s plenty on UK roads now so it’s not as exclusive as it once was. But considering its size and weight, this Dynamic model is a surprising and enjoyably keen drive.

For the business user, the decider is whether the Range Rover Sport’s 35% BIK is a shameless extravagance when compared to the latest Audi Q7 3.0 TDI in range-topping 272PS S-Line trim with (28%), that’s also over £13,000 cheaper!
