Parking's a money spinner for most councils. Should you be outraged - or relieved?
Blue badge holders should choose a space with the most room possible

Reverse parking

It might seem a bit of a flaff and cost you a bit of time, but spending an extra few moments reversing your car into a parking bay is far easier than reversing your car out of a parking bay. It’s also a greener option. You’ll use less fuel when the engine is warm, rather than reversing when the engine is cold.

Look for the space

Ideally you want a parking bay that provides as much room as possible either side of your car. Think about how and where in the bay you park to maximise the room you need – but be careful not to make it impossible for someone else in the car next to you. Yeah, we know, easier said than done.

Parking in the street

If you need to park in the street it’s best to avoid parking close to busy junctions or near sharp bends – especially if it restricts the movement of traffic trying to pass. So park safely.
