Volkswagen Passat - Post collision breaking
Brake it down – a system that automatically stops the car so you don’t have to

Automatic Post Collision Braking system

“Standard on all Passats, unfortunately if you’re involved in an accident, this will significantly reduce the kinetic energy, hopefully preventing or minimising any subsequent collision.

If you’ve been in accident on the motorway, the fear is you’re going to get rear-ended again. So hopefully because this system is fitted, it brakes the car down to 10 kilometers per hour, as normally you’d have to do it yourself.

As a result, this system leaves you able to steer to the side of the road, on to the hard shoulder.”

Misfuel Prevention Device

“The AA still quote that misfueling is one of the biggest things they are called out for.

All new Passats are diesels and the nozzle will not allow a petrol filler to be inserted. Therefore, it is impossible to misfuel the new Passat as it is standard on all models.”

Driver Alert System

“What the Driver Alert System does is monitor your first 15 minutes of driving, analysing the steering behaviour and your driving characteristics.
What’s good about this system, is because it monitors steering inputs, it can tell if there’s a deviation in the driving, due to you falling asleep at the wheel. Then it sounds an acoustic warning lasting five seconds, along with a visual message recommending a break.
If this doesn’t work, the warning is repeated 15 minutes later.”
