“Honda are on a two-year contract for F1 engines and so part of the deal is a supportive role to supply cars at preferential rates, but we are also very conveniently placed for them on the main road from McLaren to the M25.

“We regularly see around 15 brand new McLarens on our forecourt a day – tanking up with fuel!

“We have a very strong relationship and ensure that we provide a level of service so that they want to stay with us, and among our 100 staff on site we have our own specialist sale contact manager, Chris Sanders, specifically assigned to McLaren’s needs.

“We have had very positive feedback and it is a nice relationship, works very well.”

So what do the superstar staff from McLaren choose as their “dailies”? Said Richard: “Mainly Civic saloon, tourer and CR-V, but they are clamouring for the new Type R and we are looking forward to the new NSX – we have taken three personal orders already.

“The NSX is a superb testament to Honda’s design capability.”
