VAUXHALL has opened orders for the Astra Sports Tourer GSe, the electrified performance variant of the Astra Sports Tourer. Prices for the Astra Sports Tourer GSe start from £43,250.

GSe stands for Grand Sport Electric and is the new performance sub-brand from Vauxhall, integrating electric performance credentials with sharp handling and styling. From launch, there are three GSe variants: Grandland GSe, Astra GSe, and Astra Sports Tourer GSe. All three models feature unique styling upgrades inside and out and come with powerful electrified drivetrains and improved handling thanks to suspension and steering upgrades.

Order books for Grandland GSe and Astra GSe are already open.

The Plug-in Hybrid powertrain seen on conventional Astra Sports Tourer versions is upgraded for GSe variants. Astra Sports Tourer GSe comes with a 180PS 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine connected to an 81.2kW (110PS) electric motor for a total power output of 225PS and maximum torque of 360Nm – up from 180PS and 250Nm on standard Plug-in Hybrid variants. This helps the Astra Sports Tourer GSe accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds and achieve a top-speed of 146mph.

Featuring a 12.4kWh battery, Astra Sports Tourer GSe offers up to 39 miles of pure electric range, and with emissions as low as 26g/km CO2, the Astra Sports Tourer GSe is eligible for a Benefit-in-Kind rate of 12%.

For improved safety and convenience, Astra Sports Tourer GSe models feature Intelli-Drive technology with Forward Collision Alert and Active Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. Also included is Drowsiness Detection, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Assistant, Cross Traffic and Side Blind Spot alert and Automatic Speed Assistant with Stop Function – all contributing towards a safer driving experience for driver and passenger.

Vauxhall has also confirmed prices for the latest addition to its fully electric passenger car range, Astra Electric. Available in two trim lines from launch – sporty GS and top-of-the-range Ultimate – prices for the first ever fully electric Astra will start from £39,995 OTR. Orders are now open with first deliveries due later this summer.

The Astra Electric features Vauxhall’s next-generation 54kWh lithium-ion battery for improved performance, with up to 258 miles of range between charges (WLTP) and is available with the brand’s most advanced technology suite yet, Intelli-Drive 2.0 – adding semi-autonomous lane change and intelligent speed adaption.

The Astra Electric will be joined by the Astra Electric Sports Tourer later this year, furthering the choice for Vauxhall customers who are looking to go electric. With the arrival of the Astra Electric Sports Tourer, Vauxhall will have a choice of six fully electric models across its passenger car range, in addition to already offering a fully electric Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) line-up. By 2028, Vauxhall will be an electric-only manufacturer, seven years ahead of UK Government targets.unnamed 4

The Astra Electric carries Vauxhall’s contemporary Bold and Pure design language, already seen on petrol and Plug-in Hybrid variants of the Astra. The front end is defined by the Vauxhall Vizor, a single, sleek, panel that houses the LED headlights and sensors that make up the driver aids and safety technologies onboard the Astra Electric. The nose of the car also houses the new Vauxhall Griffin logo. Ultimate variants upgrade the lights to IntelliLux Pixel Matrix LED units that provide unparalleled lighting in the sector thanks to 168 individual LED lights.

The ‘Compass’ design principle seen on the Astra also applies to the Astra Electric. The front -end design balances the horizontal and vertical axes to centre on the black Griffin badge, to lower and widen the car’s appearance. At the rear, the centrally mounted Griffin, vertically-aligned high-mounted brake lamp and the wing-shaped tail lamps have the same effect. The Griffin badge also doubles as the latch for the tailgate, which is made of state-of-the-art composite material to reduce weight.

All versions of the Astra Electric come standard with 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels – black on GS models and bi-colour on Ultimate versions, contrast black roof and door mirrors and a black surround and detailing for the Vizor front end.
