VW claims that if you drive under 10,000 miles a year, you’ll only need to fill up ten times. What else do you need to know about the Golf BlueMotion?

Business Car Manager car review verdict

VW has long set an enviably high standard with the iconic Golf diesel. Now, here’s  the new gen Golf BlueMotion to raise the bar that much higher.

Once upon a time, an overtly eco-based car such as this would have been a dull, sluggish drive. Instead, we find this latest spec BlueMotion to be just as refined, well sorted and agile to drive as many ‘normal’ new Golfs.

It has all the space, practicality and quality finish we’ve come to expect from Golf 7. And manages those hybrid-like economy and CO2 emissions without the need for any battery or electric motor, thus saving weight and complexity while lowering company car tax exposure and reducing running costs.

Later this year, VW will offer the Golf BlueMotion with the new estate body and just about the only serious improvement we’d like to see is an auto option.

Here and now, the new 85 g/km VW Golf BlueMotion must be one of the most practical, rational, well resolved company car contenders around.  As the saying goes, it ticks all the boxes.
