THE new Fiesta range isn’t even on sale yet, but there’s no holding Ford which revealed the next Fiesta ST performance range-topper at the Geneva Motor Show.
A deeper front bumper, sportier front grille, painted rear diffuser and those unique 18-inch alloy wheels mark the ST out from the rest of the new Fiesta range.
Inside there’s a set of supportive Recaro seats, a new 8-inch infotainment screen, flat-bottomed steering wheel and the chance to personalise this Fiesta more with the interior style packs available.
Biggest change for ST fans is under the bonnet. Gone is the old 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo engine to be replaced by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder that’s also blown. However despite the smaller engine, power is up by 17bhp to 197bhp, with torque up to 290Nm from 240Nm.
No top speed has been revealed, but the Fiesta will get to 62mph in 6.7 seconds – two-tenths faster than the old one.
Also new for the ST are three selectable driving modes: Normal, Sport and Track.
Available in three- and five-door versions, the new Fiesta ST is expected to be launched early next year.
