THE consumer car magazine, What Car?, has named the Peugeot 3008 as its car of the year.
The Peugeot – a crossover model, combining the looks of a 4×4 but without the four-wheel drive tech for better economy – was a surprise and perhaps controversial choice. The supermini VW Polo, which won the European Car of the Year award, picked up the Best Supermini accolade, but not the overall What Car? title.
Last year’s What Car? Car of the Year, the Ford Fiesta, failed to win anything.
Other winners included the BMW 320d ES (Compact Executive), Jaguar XF 3.0D (Executive) and Audi TT (Coupe).
Special awards were given to Mercedes for safety and Audi for security.
