Describing cars honestly is one of the hallmarks of CD Auction Group says Andy Brown: it builds up trust with buyers

But Andy reckons there’s more to it than just selling the old company cars for SME fleets. There’s a fleet management angle.

“We’re finding many SMEs just run their cars till they drop. We’re telling them how to get better whole life value out of their company cars. It’s an educational piece.

“We can also offer pool fleet management to SMEs. For example, when a member of staff leaves, what do you do with the car? Leave it sitting outside in the road until you’ve appointed a replacement, then hand over a dirty, scruffy car?

“We can look after the car securely and then deliver it to your new member of staff when they need it. Currently we have 200 cars in our pool fleet management operation.”

Clearly Andy hasn’t totally left his car leasing life behind him. But it shows how innovative a small operation such as CD Auction Group can be.

Nevertheless, Andy is donning his sheepskin coat with relish. “Early next year we’re moving to three auctions a week on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We’re ready for bigger throughput and we need to establish consistency with buyers.”

Andy says it’s the first step in many changes being implemented next year.

“And I’m really looking forward to it! I enjoyed my time in leasing, but this is a great new opportunity.”

Footnote on Andy Brown

Andy will be bringing his expertise – both in leasing and used cars – to the SME Company Car of the Year awards as one of our panel of independent judges. The SME Company Car of the Year winners will be announced in January.
