Vauxhall, Corsa, learner driver
Yes, that really is Ralph’s daughter learning to drive in that Corsa.

There are changes to the suspension and steering. These will be welcome having just hopped out of a Corsa. Let’s hope they are sharper without the vagueness that – while easy to drive – tends to afflict the current Vauxhall supermini.

But what I really want to do is drive this new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo engine that will sitting under the new Vauxhall Corsa engine.

I’m a big fan of three-cylinder engines. They sound great and offer plenty of pulling power. Vauxhall promises this three-cylinder unit to be the smoothest on the market thanks to the inclusion of a balancer shaft.

The only one on the market with such a configuration, it will be intriguing to see if it’s as good, if not better, than Ford’s brilliant 1.0T EcoBoost unit in the current Ford Fiesta.
