DRIVING from one side of the country to another to attend a meeting, before covering the same distance as you work your way back home at the end of the day, can often make for a very boring journey.

However, put any of the following albums on your car’s CD/radio – In Car Connections stocks a collection of hi-tech Blaupunkt car stereos if your current music player is struggling to give the tunes the justice they deserve – and you will be racking up the miles without ever realising it.

Oasis – Definitely Maybe

It is hard to believe that almost 20 years have gone by since Oasis burst onto the music scene and changed the way we perceived rock music. However, their debut album Definitely Maybe is timeless in appeal.

The guitar riffs of the album’s first track, Rock ‘n’ Roll Star, will instantly put you in a good mood, while Supersonic, Cigarettes & Alcohol and Slide Away are instantly recognisable songs that you are bound to be singing along to as the album draws towards a close.

The Killers – Hot Fuss

You will struggle to find an album more diverse than Hot Fuss by The Killers. You will be beating your fingers on your steering wheel to the beat of Jenny Was a Friend of Mine and Somebody Told Me, while All These Things That I’ve Done is perfect when you’re on the motorway and just hoping to sit back.

Of course, there is also Mr Brightside – a track that starts powerfully and then doesn’t let up once.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication

With such sing-along tracks as Around The World, Scar Tissue and Otherside all playing within the first 15 minutes of this album, as well as Californication and Road Trippin’ both to come later on the disc, it is little wonder that Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was named within The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine.

The Beatles – Abbey Road

Although sombre by the fact that this was the last recorded album to be released by The Beatles, the band’s Abbey Road should be seen as a celebration of what made this English band so iconic.

This album features some of the best songs from The Beatles, including Come Together, Something, Here Comes the Sun and Because. However, it can be argued that the medley is the best feature of Abbey Road – 16 minutes of bliss that perfectly showcase the band’s group harmonies and will have you eager to air guitar and air drum.

M83 – Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming

You may never have heard of M83, but you are bound to remember their album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming once you’ve heard it in full.

All 22 songs on the album stand out for their slow beginnings, which gradually unravel with the use of a wide variety of instruments. In short, there are 22 adventures waiting to be discovered while you sit behind the wheel and rack up those miles.
