What’s not?
- Dynamically the same as the ST petrol, some might find the sportier ride and refinement too harsh in everyday use.
- I like the deeper, sportier engine note provided by the sound symposer, but the drone can get annoying on longer motorway trips.
- Fine in the dry, the diesel version of the Focus ST does struggle to put its power down in the wet.
Verdict on the Ford Focus ST2 2.0 TDCI 185PS
If the driving experience hadn’t matched up to the petrol version of the Focus ST, the diesel would have been seen as a dilution of the ST brand.
It isn’t and instead is a worthy addition. With its 110g/km CO2 figure, the monthly £155 BIK figure and 67.3 mpg fuel figure, ST2 diesel could make real sense for business buyers.
