Jaguar XFR saloon

Jaguar XFR saloon

Jaguar 5.0 V8 XFR Supercharged

What is it?

The hottest XF yet and Jaguar’s fastest ever four-door saloon. Supercharged BMW M5 rival comes with the firm’s latest blown 5.0-litre V8 engine, producing over 500bhp, along with high tech adaptive damping and a limited slip differential. Near £60k price tag.

What’s hot?

  • Unsurprisingly, the performance: 0-60mph in 4.9 secs…
  • …and huge shove in every gear thanks to 625Nm of torque
  • Lovely V8 rumble under power, whisper quiet when cruising
  • Six-speed auto is super smooth, paddles are great fun
  • Adaptive Dynamics sharpens steering, suspension and throttle…
  • …results in amazing agility, direct steering and huge grip
  • Ride is simply superb despite 20-inch alloys
  • Cabin beautifully built, sumptuous leather throughout

What’s not?

  • Rather thirsty at 22.5mpg combined
  • …and 292g/km CO2 means an ECO scheme is needed…
  • …or a good personal lease deal
  • Front lights still look too much like a Lexus
  • Depreciation likely to be terrifying

Business Car Manager Road Test Rating

The XFR is everything that a flagship Jaguar should be. It’s enormously rapid but incredibly refined, great fun on a twisty road but just at home on the motorway. It’s a brilliant all-rounder and currently the best performance saloon on sale – BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG included.
