Changes at the front include the grille and new foglight surrounds. It all works rather well

What’s hot

  • Adoption of the spindle grille and current Lexus styling cues refresh the CT to good effect.
  • Build quality of the cabin is exceptionally good.
  • Hybrid power train produces good economy, especially in urban areas.
  • High level of standard equipment leaves you with plenty of buttons to play with.
  • Premium Navigation system a big step forward from the ones fitted to the older Lexus.
  • Decent size boot despite a hybrid battery pack being shoehorned into the car.
  • Handling and ride feels sporty, even if it flatters to deceive.
  • Company car tax rate is extremely competitive at 11% (2014/15) or £49 a month for a 20% tax payer. (Entry level models drop to £38 a month – around £13 a month less than the cheapest Audi A3 TDI.)
  • Qualifies for 100% first year write down allowance.

Though better than before, the ride quality and performance still aren’t among the best in this class

What’s not

  • Ride quality is still harsh until you reach motorway speeds.
  • Handling let down by overly firm suspension.
  • Hybrid power train offers little benefit at higher speeds and mileages.
  • Performance is pedestrian at best.
