WENT along to Hyundai’s High Wycombe offices yesterday (10 December 2013) to meet fleet director Martin Wilson.

A Geordie and former Newcastle Falcons  rugby player, Martin still looks like he could still go egg-chasing with some success.

But of more interest in his day to day job is the sales success he and his Hyundai fleet sales team is seeing with SME small fleets.

“We’ve experienced 20% fleet growth with our dealers,” Martin explains, which has accompanied Hyundai’s expansion with some of the larger dealer groups. The growth in Hyundai i30 and i40 sales suggests it has been a smart move.

Currently Hyundai has 30 Business Centres serving SME small fleet customers with bespoke business advice, and Martin wants to grow this to 35 in 2014.

“We need the right partners for Hyundai Business Centres,” explains Martin. “I’m not interested in people with tick box mentalities.”

Providing an exceptional customer experience is critical to Hyundai, Martin continues, from first contact with an SME customer through to follow ups once the sale has been completed.

Looking ahead, there’s the new Hyundai i10 that is to launch in January 2014 with prices starting from £8345. There’s also a charismatic 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine included in the range – which always makes any journey more exciting – for a small business wanting a city runaround.
