What’s not?

  • MINI reckons that 50% of Clubman buyers will go for the Chili Pack option, which will bump up the P11D for tax purposes
  • The diesel engine is flat sounding and slightly raucous under acceleration
  • The numberplate bar across the grille looks like a boxer’s gum shield
  • And very little else

MINI Clubman Cooper D review verdict

It’s hard not to like the MINI brand, the cheeky chappy of the car world. But this new MINI Clubman demonstrates that MINI has developed the brand, moved it up a notch to become slightly more serious, more grown up, more businesslike.

Top news, then, for business car users. Here’s a serious MINI for business use, without any packaging compromises. It matches its class rivals in the premium hatchback sector for space, but delivers it all with distinctive style on the road, along with the bucketloads of appeal associated with the MINI brand.

The new Clubman Cooper D is competitive on benefit in kind company car tax, running costs are kept in check with wallet-enhancing economy, and for business car managers it’s around £200 on a business car lease. Add in MINI’s TLC service package for business and an eight-speed auto available as an option, and you can see why MINI has gone from jeans and T-shirt to sharp suit and shoes.

It’s a serious business car – and perfect for SMEs looking for a distinctive and uplifting car choice for staff.
