What is it?

The UK’s best-selling car gets a freshen up. There’s a more muscular and athletic look to the styling of the new Ford Focus: a new grille, swept back headlamps and more emphasis on the bold wheel arch designs. Plus more safety kit, including anti-skid ESP. The interior dials, switches and centre console have also been tidied up. There are four main petrol engine choices for new Ford Focus: 1.4 (80PS), 1.6 (100PS), 1.8 (125PS) and this 2.0-litre (145PS) model.

What’s hot?

  • New Mondeo styling gives Focus more purposeful appearance
  • Interior surfaces and finish of much higher quality
  • Punchy engine powers Focus with gusto
  • Sporting chassis provides fluid handling on open roads
  • Supple suspension cushions dips and crests
  • Standard anti-skid ESP
  • Standard heated front screen for frosty mornings
  • Capless Easyfuel system prevents misfuelling

What’s not?

  • Engine gets harsh at top end
