THE all-new luxury Jaguar XJ saloon will make its UK debut at Drive 09.

The XJ is the highlight at the professional drivers’ event – for chauffeur, limousine and private hire trades – which takes place at the Transport Research Laboratory, Berkshire, on the weekend of the September 26-27. Entry is free for trades by pre-registration.

Other key new cars for chauffeurs include showcases for the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo, facelifted Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and Porsche’s all-new Panamera four-door model.

Small business traders can also catch up with changes to the law in a series of workshops. These include a presentation by The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) on changes to the limousine laws.

The VOSA seminar will cover the overall limousine process from designing, importing and purchasing a vehicle through to registration, operation and maintenance requirements. The aim of the seminar is to improve compliance within the industry and ensure the vehicles are run in a safe and legal manner.

There will also be advice on how to successfully start a chauffeur or private hire business.

However, it’s not all theory. Visitors can drive cars on a test track, including the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the new Skoda Superb, and the third-generation Toyota Prius hybrid model.

Professional drivers and members of the trade can attend the event for free, by pre-registering at www.drive09.co.uk. Alternatively, click on the Drive 09 banner to the left of this story to take you through.
