Styling upgrades and low emission engines for 2012
THE Citroen Berlingo has always been a stalwart in the Citroen commercial vehicle line up.
And that looks set to continue with an update to the current Berlingo, which was launched in 2008.
Among the changes are a wider grille, updated Citroen chevrons rising up to the headlights and a new headlight arrangement.
The lower part of the grille can be fitted with optional static cornering lights integrated with the fog lights. The air intake on the lower front apron and the headlight changes provide a more purposeful road stance.
Door mirrors have been made more slippery to increase air flow, lower CO2 emissions, and improve fuel economy.
At the rear, the new Berlingo features updated Citroen brand identity. Inside, there’s new ‘Gazyban’ grey trim – which sounds, errr, interesting.
What doesn’t change, of course, is the Berlingo’s practicality. With a maximum load capacity of 4.1 m3, sliding side doors and 60/40 rear doors opening to 180 degrees, the new Berlingo is able to carry two euro pallets. For even greater versatility, a 2-seater Extenso multi-function folding passenger seat is standard on LX and Enterprise models.
The new Berlingo van is available with the choice of one petrol and four diesel powertrains. With improved efficiency and environmental performance, the HDi 75 now emits 133g/km of CO2 – down from 136g/km – thanks to changes including the new aerodynamic upgrades. The HDi 90 now emits 138g/km – down from 140g/km.
The e-HDi 90 Airdream EGS6, which features e-HDi micro-hybrid technology with Stop & Start and a six-speed automated manual gearbox, delivers even lower CO2 emissions of just 123g/km.
The updated Citroen Berlingo goes on sale later this year.
