Peugeot 5008 car review: sharp on style, not so sharp on costs

The facelifted 5008 looks good, and the interior is both practical and much more luxurious than before.

Modern and attractive, and unashamedly a people carrier. Nothing wrong with that

What’s hot

  • Much need refresh has made the 5008 appear modern and attractive
  • Doesn’t try to hide the fact it’s an MPV
  • High levels of standard equipment
    Peugeot_5008_review
In common with other Peugeots, the interior feels much more up market than before – and it’s extremely well equipped
  • Interior has a very premium feel with a classy dashboard layout
  • Head-up display includes sat nav instructions
  • Spacious cabin and decent sized boot
  • Van-like space once you’ve folded all the seats down
  • Putting all the seats down takes less than 30 seconds
  • Countless places to store things dotted around the cabin

What’s not

  • 18-inch alloy wheels on top-spec Allure model affect ride quality
  • Official economy of 54.3mpg is disappointingly low and some distance from best in class
  • Automatic option only available on thirstier 150PS engine
  • Semi-auto ECG gearbox is disappointing so avoid
  • Cost of ownership some way behind its newer rivals
