VOLVO has started taking orders for the new XC90 SUV, the first car based on the company’s new SPA platform – that’s Scaleable Product Architecture, which allows different sizes of cars to be built off the same architecture.
Of the early cars, 1927 will be First Edition models – 53 of these cars have been allocated to the UK market. All Volvo XC90 First Edition cars have already sold out.
The Volvo XC90 is the first car to be powered solely by Volvo’s new Drive-E engine range. It will be available from launch with either an all-wheel-drive (AWD) D5 225 PS diesel, an AWD T6 320 PS petrol or an AWD T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid with 400 PS.
Volvo XC90 CO2 emissions start from 64g/km, giving the large SUV a company car tax banding of just 9% in the 2015/16 tax year.
