Volvo V60
The V60 is like a Volvo estate, but with a ‘couped’ rear end. And the version we’ve driven here is smack bang in the middle of most business buyers sights

What is it?

This is Volvo’s classy V60 wagon with 2.0-litre five cylinder turbodiesel engine on board, good for 163PS and with CO2 emissions set as low as 114g/km.

In spite of its size the Volvo manages 65.7mpg, with low company car tax rates to match

This V60 comes some midway in the range, as an alternative to the well-established petrol V60s (1.6-3.0-litres) and smaller/bigger diesels (1.6-2.4 litres).

It’s also out there as a ‘conventional counterpart’ to Volvo’s new and impressive V60 Plug In hybrid diesel, reviewed in Business Car Manager back in March.

The V60 Plug In hybrid is a true technical tour de force and world first but for mainstream business users, here and now, a conventional diesel would still be worth checking out, which is where this silver V60 D4 comes in…

It’s a car that originally started as a D3. But with Volvo introducing a new 136PS edition of the same engine, this 163PS unit now moves up to become a D4.

The V60 formula is as before, with that seductive coupe styling giving this 5-Series rival real presence on the road and with long equipment list and Volvo’s traditional safety tech very much in the mix.

So is this the best of the ‘regular’ V60s?
