The Volkswagen Scirocco is coming back.
First launched back in 1974, the famous coupe version of the Golf will go on sale in the UK from September.
The two-door coupe is a four-seater with front-wheel drive.
At launch, the Volkswagen Scirocco will be offered with just one engine: a 200PS 2.0-litre T-FSI unit.
There will be a choice of six-speed manual or semi auto DSG gearboxes.
Later, two further TSI petrol units will expand the Scirocco range, along with one diesel engine.
Coupe dimensions make the Scirocco wider and lower than the Golf.
Scirocco v Golf dimensions
- Scirocco v Golf wheelbase: both 2,578 mm
- Scirocco v Golf length: 4256mm v 4216 mm
- Scirocco v Golf height: 1404 mm v 1469 mm
- Scirocco v Golf width: 1810 mm v 1759 mm
The old Scirocco always had a good dose of practicality. And the new Scirocco has similarly practical features, too.
The tailgate lifts up to provide wide access to a 292 litre luggage space. The rear seats split/fold to increase capacity to 755 litres – about half that of the new Mercedes C-Class estate with the rear seats folded.
Prices are expected to start around £20,500.
