First DS model launched back in 1955
It was back in 1955 the world first clapped eyes on the very first Citroen DS. The DS19 debuted at the Paris Motor Show that year and at the time it was highly praised for its handling finesse and cosseting ride.
It also featured hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension system, powered disc brake s as well as a semi-automatic gearbox which required no clutch pedal but gears to be shifted by hand. The DS19 was well ahead of its time and set a huge precedent for the French brand.
Even today the DS19 is hailed as one of the most beautiful cars ever designed.
