“Corporate will be very much five-door, this is where the five-door is mostly going. In retail, the customers are appreciating the extra practicality of having two more doors, a boot volume that is bigger and more legroom because of the added wheelbase.”
“We’ve done a lot with the five-door, a lot more than adding a pair of doors, the car really has its own character, it’s a longer car, the rear quarters from a design point of view look different, we’ve got those dunes on the roof, although can clearly see this is a MINI family member.”
“We have customers who are fans of the higher seating position, so they specifically go for Countryman. We didn’t have a five-door hatch before, so we’re seeing a lot of new customers coming to the brand that way.”
“We have customers who are looking for an SUV look and also four-wheel drive, which we do offer on the Countryman, as opposed to the five-door hatch. So this where I believe the Countryman and F55 five-door appeal to different customers. It’s different tastes from my point of view too.”
