The Fiat 500 can now go further on a gallon of diesel. Not only further, it’s also quicker!

Fiat’s baby 500 has a new 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine which replaces the out-going 75bhp MultiJet unit with a more potent but also more environmentally-friendly 95bhp ‘MultiJet II’ version. It also features the fuel-saving Start&Stop technology.

Fuel consumption improves from 67.3mpg to 72.4mpg, while emissions drop to 104g/km of CO2 (from 110g/km). This means the Fiat 500 qualifies for benefit-in-kind company car tax of 13% and also for 100% first year writing down allowances.

A variable geometry turbocharger delivers 95bhp at 4000rpm and 200Nm of torque at only 1500rpm – suggesting it will have easy-to-drive characteristics. The 0-62mph acceleration time lowers from 12.5 to just 10.7 seconds.
