What’s not?

  • New Superb steering is accurate and well geared but some over centre vagueness takes the edge off driver enjoyment.
  • The new model’s Adaptive suspension (DCC) could be better tuned. Ride/handling too soft in Eco mode. Not a huge perceptible difference between Normal and Sport.

Verdict on the Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 150 PS

Skoda has hit the ground running with this new generation Superb. As an all-up package, considering design, comfort, refinement, space, quality, practicality, performance and economy, it ticks all those boxes. It is a major step up on the outgoing Superb and a car that will take Skoda to a new place in the market.

We’re looking here at the 2.0 TDI SE Business edition as this is perhaps representative of the new Superbs from the business point of view. With a P11D of £22,035, it is genuinely a lot of car for the money: well specced, good to drive and a car that’s already tipped to have strong residuals, according to the CAP Gold book.

If you like driving, you’d perhaps wish for a sharper edge to the steering over a quick A-road, but day-to-day, as a motorway muncher, the solid, efficient and impressive Skoda Superb is going to acquit itself well. So well in fact that, in time, the likes of VW and Audi might start looking over their shoulders…

With a new Superb Estate also in the wings, Skoda is set to become a new force in the business D-sector. As you might have gathered, the new Skoda Superb has all the credentials for success.
