For those worried about suffering from diesel fume pollution in urban environments there’s the ‘bioweapon defence mode’ climate control with a medical grade HEPA filter to strip outside air of pollen, bacteria, viruses and other pollution before circulating it into the cabin.

Gull-wing doors allow easy access to second and third row seats from even a tight parking space where traditional SUV doors or MPV sliding doors would not grant any access.

With only a foot of clearance on either side, gull wing doors allow passengers to enter from both front and rear directions.

Aerodynamics aid the car’s range and the Tesla Model X boasts a coefficient of drag of  0.24 – 20% lower than the next best SUV. In addition, an active spoiler deploys from the tailgate to optimise highway efficiency and stability.

It also has the largest all-glass panoramic windscreen in production, providing an unparalleled view of the stars and sky above.

Model X is available in six-seat and seven-seat configurations. Seven-seat configurations maximise passenger capacity while six-seat configurations open second row seats to the third row and provide added cargo capacity.

The front boot is large enough to hold two golf bags and the rear cargo area can easily hold large items like bicycles, skis and snowboards. Hitch-mounted accessory carriers hold additional gear and Model X is the first electric vehicle with a 2,268kg (5,000lb) towing capacity.
