The new Vauxhall Insignia estate will be called the Sports Tourer.
The Insignia Sports Tourer will replace the current Vauxhall Vectra estate.
The Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer goes on sale in quarter two next year.
The Insignia Sports Tourer shows similar styling to the four-door Insignia saloon and five-door Insignia hatchback due early 2009.
The new Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer will offer the same five engines as the saloon and hatch. They include 130PS and 160PS versions of the 2.0 CDTi turbodiesel. In other Insignia models, these engines give 48.7mpg and 154g/km CO2 emissions in manual form.
The Insignia Sports Tourer will also have two new engines at launch – a more powerful turbodiesel and smaller-capacity turbocharged petrol engine. No technical details have been released yet.
A low-tax, low-emissions ecoFLEX Sports Tourer is also in the pipeline.
The Insignia Sports Tourer is 80mm longer than the saloon and hatch.
Vauxhall claims the Insignia Sports Tourer has one of the best load volumes in its class and ample room for five adults.
The Insignia Sports Tourer will feature high-tech equipment, including a camera that displays road signs in the centre console. Vauxhall’s FlexRide chassis and four-wheel drive will also be offered.
No word on prices yet. More details are expected when the Insignia Sports Tourer receives its world debut at October’s Paris motor show.
