The Insignia Sports Tourer will also have two new engines at launch – a more powerful turbodiesel and smaller-capacity turbocharged petrol engine. No technical details have been released yet.

A low-tax, low-emissions ecoFLEX Sports Tourer is also in the pipeline.

The Insignia Sports Tourer is 80mm longer than the saloon and hatch.

Vauxhall claims the Insignia Sports Tourer has one of the best load volumes in its class and ample room for five adults.

The Insignia Sports Tourer will feature high-tech equipment, including a camera that displays road signs in the centre console. Vauxhall’s FlexRide chassis and four-wheel drive will also be offered.

No word on prices yet. More details are expected when the Insignia Sports Tourer receives its world debut at October’s Paris motor show.
