THE Volvo Group has topped the charts in the battle against climate change with the best possible results in an environmental carbon footprint survey of 2,000 global businesses.

International organisation Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) gave it the highest score of 100 points for Disclosure and rated Volvo Group A for Performance.

The 2015 result, 100 A, is an improvement from last year’s score of 100 B, meaning the Volvo Group has improved its carbon disclosure performance even further.

Niklas Gustavsson, EVP ffor corporate sustainability & public affairs, said: “Environmental care is a core value and a prioritised area for the Volvo Group. We have a clear strategy for climate change and a good system for executing this strategy.”

The Volvo Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, construction equipment and marine and industrial engines. It employs about 100,000 people, has production facilities in 19 countries and sells its products in more than 190 markets.

It has been reporting climate results to the CDP since 2004 and was the first commercial vehicle manufacturer to be approved to participate in the WWF Climate Savers program, where public commitments are made on CO2 reductions among other areas.

The Volvo Group is further engaged in several environmental activities, of which some examples are fuel efficiency on products, research and development of alternative fuels, lower emissions from products as well as energy and resource efficiency improvement in production.

Lobbying for a new generation of public transport solutions with electric and hybrid buses is another important area. You can read more in theVolvo Group Sustainability Report.

The CDP results are presented in a score between 0 and 100 for Disclosure, and between A and E for Performance where A is best. To reach A requires that the company performs a third party audit of its environmental data. Read more about CDP here.
