DRIVING company cars to numerous business meetings can get lonely sometimes but not now Vauxhall has launched the OnStar service in Europe.

Based at its Griffin House HQ in Luton, the service promises a 24/7 friendly voice at the push of the OnStar blue button.

So how will this help the average high mileage corporate driver’s life?

Well, no need to dangerously fiddle with the sat-nav while you’re rushing from one business meeting to another, because the OnStar advisor can simply download the destination to your car’s system during a conversation that is guaranteed to commence within 15 seconds of hitting the roof mounted button.

There’s another button too – the emergency SOS red button to get help the moment you need it and, because the car is connected to GPS with a superfast 4G connection, the advisor knows your exact location to help any help you’ll require.

From the business car manager’s point of view, OnStar emails monthly updates on the car’s on board diagnostics to help plan the next servicing schedule or head-off any residual mechanical problem that might be building up within the vehicle.

And the list of services OnStar will provide from launch later this summer is impressive, including:

• 24/7 call-up assist within a 15 second timeframe;
• Sat-nav downloads to voice requested destination;
• Remote vehicle diagnostics on request;
• In-car wi-fi hotspot connection for up to seven devices;
• Connects to smartphones via both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay;
