Iveco Daily: new engines in latest update

Cleaner engines, new styling and interior upgrades for big Iveco van

THE Iveco Daily has been with us since 1978 – and in September, the latest version will receive a makeover.

The latest Iveco Daily evolution includes cleaner engines, an improved cab and a new look to the external styling. More than 2 million units have been sold since the large van was launched.

A Euro 5 compliant twin-turbocharged version of the FPT Industrial 3.0-litre diesel engine is now fitted to the larger Iveco Daily models. This offers power of 205hp with a massive 470Nm of torque. The two turbochargers do different jobs. One is a compact, low-inertia unit, which provides a rapid response from a very low engine speed; the other is a larger unit, designed to deliver the engine’s maximum performance, providing high torque and power with low emissions and fuel consumption.

The FPT Industrial 2.3-litre engine gains an increase in torque to 320Nm thanks to a new Multijet II fuel injection system that optimises the combustion process, bringing benefits in terms of engine noise, fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions.

All diesel engines have an enhanced EGR system with improved control to ensure accurate recirculated gas distribution among the engine cylinders and a Diesel Particulate Filter as standard. The exhaust system and the EGR logic have been optimised for urban use. Daytime running lights are introduced, along with a fog light cornering system.

The Iveco Daily range covers GVWs from 2.8 tonnes to 7.0 tonnes, with a payload of up to 4.7 tonnes. The maximum load volume of the van version is 17.2cu m. In-cab comfort improvements include an adjustable steering column and an increased adjustment range for the driver and passenger seating.
