THERE’S more tax and business advice available from Business Car Manager – especially for new start ups.

The latest episode of HMRC’s Start Up Diaries has just been released. It provides an insider’s view into setting up and running a new business. The series of short videos follows three entrepreneurs as they try to turn their ideas into successful businesses.

Teenager Ruth invented The StairSteady when she was just 16 and now runs her own company with the help of her parents.

Nick set up an acting school called The Stanislavski Experience that provides practical experience for students at universities, colleges and drama schools. And Hannah is a freelance writer who specialises in medical communications and has to juggle meeting clients, writing and expecting a new addition to the family.

The new content is available to download direct from the Law & Tax section of this website or clicking the ‘Get your tax right’ button (right).

The business updates include Ruth surviving her supplier going out of business, but partnering with a new global supplier that could really boost her expansion plans.

Nick puts forward an idea for a book to a publisher and is pleasantly surprised when he gets the go-ahead to write the first chapter. Meanwhile, Hannah is only one month from the arrival of her baby and discovers that even as a freelancer, she is entitled to maternity allowance to help her while she’s not working. But how long will it keep the family going?
