Mercedes is updating its SLK Roadster model.

The new SLK will be available from April.

Changes include a new-look front end; an under bumper diffuser at the rear; and engine modifications that boost power and improve economy.

The restyling includes a modified air-dam arrangement and a more pronounced arrow shape at the front. Inside there’s a new three-spoke sports steering wheel and new instrumentation.

A new option is a direct steering system with variable steering assistance that provides less assistance at speed, more in town. The system is standard on the SLK 55 AMG.

There have been several engine changes to the Mercedes SLK. These include:

• SLK 200 Kompressor 4cyl power boosted by 21hp to 184hp; better economy: 36.7mpg
• SLK 280 V6 auto better economy: 31mpg
• SLK 350 V6 7G-TRONIC auto power boosted by 33hp to 305hp; better economy: 30.7mpg

The revised Mercedes SLK Roadster goes on sale in April. Prices have yet to be announced.
